Scoring three goals in the first quarter, no. 1 Northwestern didn’t look back as they blanked no. 14 Boston College 6-0. Chloe Relford opened the scoring in the first quarter, followed by Bente Baekers and Ana Medina Garcia to take an early lead. Maddie Zimmer and Lane Herbert scored 33 seconds apart in the second quarter to extend the lead to 5-0. Peyton Halsey capped off the scoring in the fourth quarter for the 6-0 win. Annabel Skubisz made two saves in the win for her second straight shutout.

2022 ACC Field Hockey Preview

Aug. 21 – The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) field hockey season kicks off in just five days as they are pumped to showcase some of the best field hockey talent in the nation.  

Five ACC squads finished in the top 25 of the NFHCA Poll, including ACC Champion North Carolina and runner-up Virgina.  

Seven All-Americans for these ACC squads, headlined by Erin Matson, who leads the ACC in career goals returns for her final season.  

The season opens on Aug. 26 with nonconference games, while ACC play begins on Sept. 16. Duke is set to hold the ACC Tournament Nov. 1-4. 

There’s a lot of unfinished business for the ACC as no teams advanced to the Final Four last year. Check out everything you need to know from key returners to season recaps and thoughts for the upcoming season!
