The No. 15 United States Women’s National Team earned their first FIH Pro League win of the season in come from behind fashion with a 2-1 victory over No. 13 China. This is the USA’s first Pro League victory since May of 2019 – when they defeated China 3-1.

FIH Recap: No. 15 USWNT Makes Progress in Series vs No. 7 Spain

Spain 3, USA 2  

No. 15 United State Women’s National Team saw a 2-1 lead slip in the final minutes of regulation as No. 7 Spain scored twice to edge the USA 3-2 in their final meeting of the weekend.  

The USWNT felt the pressure of Spain early as they drew a penalty corner and found multiple entries into the circle, but the USA’s defense stood firm to prevent any chances.  

Spain peppered the USA early in the second quarter, but Kealsie Robles (Old Dominion) and the defense continued to be up to the task. At the end of the second quarter, the USA drew a penalty stroke after the ball hit a Spain foot behind their goalkeeper. Erin Matson (North Carolina) converted on the penalty stroke to give the USA a 1-0 lead for a third consecutive game.

2020 ACC Field Hockey Preview

Sept. 17 — The Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey season is upon us. Even though this season is beginning differently than most, the ACC is still set for another exciting season of top field hockey talent.

North Carolina looks to continue their dominance after capturing their second straight national championship last season as they were selected to finish first in the ACC standings in 2020. Followed by Virginia and Boston College as they both made it to the Final Four last season. Duke, Louisville and Syracuse and Wake Forest rounded out the predicted order of finish.

The 2020 fall season opens on Sept. 20 with each team playing a six-game conference schedule, with additional games against ACC opponents that have been designated as non-conference games. The ACC Championship is set to be held in Durham Nov. 5-8.
